Google+ is being broken into services you might want to use

It's been the punchline to plenty of gags, and now it looks as if Google is finally ready to do something with its homegrown social network. The search engine has announced that the visual elements of Google+ is being moved into a separate product called Photos and Streams. In a post on Google+, company VP (and Radiohead fan) Bradley Horowitz announced that he was taking charge of the outfit, adding that the move is a positive improvement to both products.

The move comes just a few days after Sundar Pichai hinted that the service might be stronger in pieces than together. In an interview with Forbes , the executive said that Google+ Stream, Hangouts and Photos were being seen of as "three important areas, rather than being thought of as one." It's not clear what will happen to the other two parts of the trifecta but, considering that Pichai has a speech to deliver later today, it might not be long to wait.
